Mountain Lion, Gatekeeper, and Widgets

Apple has introduced a new security system in Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8) called Gatekeeper. Gatekeeper determines what applications can be installed on your computer, and has three settings:

1. Mac App Store
2. Mac App Store and identified developers
3. Anywhere

Gatekeeper's Default Setting is #2, meaning that only applications downloaded from the Mac App Store and applications that have been digitally signed by the developer may be installed. Before Gatekeeper, you could install any application on your Mac (this is now Setting #3).

To install our widgets you must set Gatekeeper temporarily to Setting #3. We apologize for this inconvenience and we will have the Apple Identified Developer Digital Signature for next season.

If you are on Mountain Lion or Mavericks, please follow these steps before you install your Team Widget.

1. Open System Preferences on your Mac and click on 'Security and Privacy'.

2. You will then see the 'Security and Privacy' pane, select the 'General' pane:

3. Select the 'Anywhere' radio button.

4. Exit System Perferences and install you Team Widget.

The circled section are the Gatekeeper Setting Options. After widget installation, you may click on the middle radio buttom to return Gatekeeper to it's Default Settings or if you wish to install whatever applications you want simply leave it set to Anywhere, this was the Mac OS X setting before Mountain Lion.
